Working Out

I don't know why, but I can't seem to make myself do the Couch 2 5 K (instead of couch 2 couch). Well -maybe that's not true. Maybe that's because I have back isssues and get shin splints. Maybe because I'm lazy and have a hard time putting forth the effort. Either way, it's not a good motivator to start exercising.

I found out yesterday about a walking challenge (30 minutes/day for 30 days). Now walking, I can do. Besides, I talked about taking the doggie for a walk every day back when I started this blogging thing, so that works for me. Why is it that inertia is terrible when just needing to work out, but you put it in a "challenge" and suddenly it's do-able. Whatever the reason, I will take it and run.

OH, did I mention that Miss Gretchen (my mini schnauzer) and I went for a walk this morning? Ya, that's how fast it worked :) I think I need to just see challenges around the internets (there's always ONE going on) and piggyback. It worked a while back when I did the Woman's Challenge (8 weeks of 10,000 steps for at least 5 of 7 days), so why not take that and run?

Congratulations on winning the book.

Thanks to for comment & yes .... I too see that food has become an addiction in my life. I wish it was as simple as total abstinence .... said with all due respect to drug, alcohol & tobacco addicts.

My addiction stemmed from a silent desire to escape or death wish. Once that was exposed and dealt with I have had to re-learn my responses to life's difficulties and that is ongoing. New situations can trigger the addiction and because I live with this mind that is very successful at denial I don't always catch it in time. This is where I find reading other people's experiences ... Blogs so useful. Thank-you for being here.

Blessings .... I prefer to walk too. I don't think jogging is all that good for backs especially if there is an overweight body to carry.

I lost 50 pounds over a 4 month span, but the stretch marks remain :( I've pondered those expensive creams but I have doubts about their usefulness.

I know someone on the 100 Push Up Program, how is it?

i have always hated exercise. the motivation for me was when i moved to a different city, away from my husband for a job. i went to the gym the day after i moved and joined. i figured it was either workout most evenings or go home and sleep. now i actually look forward to going. you're right..the initial inertia is the hardest part

Debbie, I know what you mean about a good challenge. It does inspire me to do more, push harder! Where did you find the walking challenge?

You're doing great! :)
